What can I say about the W7W/WE region? It is a quilt of old lava flows and glacial scars. Sagebrush and bunchgrass cling to the wind and silence, doing the quiet work of holding soil together. It’s a country that feels indifferent to us, yet patiently keeps the record of every hoofprint, raindrop, and thawing snowbank.
In Summits on the Air, there are fifty-five summits–however a number of these are on private land and, therefore, unattainable without expressed permission from landowners. ‘Merica. Land of the “not in my backyard” mentality. I digress. Let’s see how many of these summits I can visit.
