Private Idaho Burning
Out to Ketchum for a weekend of just us. Just us and bunch of other folks riding a ton of dirt miles. It’s fire season in The New American West and we were quite lucky that where we were wasn’t enveloped in smoke. (The smoke moved in the day after the ride).
Highlights of the trip:
- The long, fast flat after the first big climb. We were hauling ass and loving it.
- The Radlers and burgers at Grumpy’s.
- Grilling our dinner of chicken, salmon, zucchini, and bread at the cabin.
As we left on Monday, the air in Ketchum was thick with smoke. About 45 minutes into the drive back the highway was closed due to fire activity. Re-routing: The return drive ended up being over 10 hours.
